World Boxing Association President Gilberto Jesus Mendoza signed the Resolution stating that the WBA members join AIBA to celebrate the International Boxing Day annually on July 22nd.
AIBA has designated July 22nd to celebrate the International Boxing Day around the world. The celebration was born in Russia in 2017 and recognized by the AIBA Executive Committee in 2019.
‘The International Boxing Day stands to honor boxers, trainers, cutmen, boxing gyms, judges
and referees, and all members of the great boxing family. Boxing is Only One Sport,’ stated the resolution.
WBA resolved:
• Support AIBA in the launching of July 22 as the International Boxing Day.
• Congratulate all the members of this great boxing family.
• Celebrate the International Boxing Day from this year on.
The resolution was signed in Panama City, Panama on July 22, 2020.
