Ajay Singh is re-elected as BFI President in front of AIBA observer

Today, on 3 February 2021, the Congress of the Boxing Federation of India (BFI) took place in Gurugram. The main point of the agenda was the elections of the President and Executive Council members. By a majority of votes, Mr. Ajay Singh was re-elected as BFI President for new terms of the office. The Executive Council of the BFI was also elected.

Following the Congress, AIBA President Mr. Umar Kremlev and Mr. Ajay Singh had a quick conference call. Mr. Kremlev expressed congratulations to Mr. Singh with successful elections and both Presidents have agreed on close cooperation for the sake of boxing.

Mr. Yury Zaytsev, AIBA legal adviser, attended the BFI Congress as AIBA Observer to ensure the elections has been properly conducted.

‘I was pleasantly surprised with the level of the Congress organization. The elections were organized in accordance with generally recognized democratic and good governance principles. Full transparency was provided, and the secret ballot was organized under the strict supervision of the candidate’s representatives, as well as AIBA and Indian NOC observers,’ – admitted Mr. Zaytsev.
