On 28 May, the Global Association of International Sports Federations (GAISF) announced that Riyadh, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, will be hosting the World Combat Games 2023, an international multi-sport event featuring 15 combat sports and martial arts. Boxing will be one of the sports on the programme.
World Combat Games (WCG) is set to be celebration of combat sports, showcasing the world’s best athletes and driving global exposure for the sports while also linking to local communities. AIBA has been a proud supporter of the project since the first edition in 2013, in Saint Petersburg.
AIBA is proud to be a longstanding member of GAISF and will be collaborating closely with both GAISF and the Saudi organisers to ensure the success of the WCG 2023. We are grateful to GAISF for creating additional opportunities for boxers and for the boxing community to develop further.
