Molodan, El-Okby and Olah were among the winners at the Moldavian Belt Tournament on Day4

Fifteen contests were on the schedule of the fourth competition day at the Moldavian Belt Tournament in Iasi. Ukraine’s 22-year-old promising star, Maksim Molodan had a tough but successful battle in the session. Israel’s Sofian El-Okby and Hungary’s Levente Olah both won their youth contests by RSC on Day4.

The venue of the Moldavian Belt Tournament is the Polivalenta Hall in the city of Iasi and the IBA Scoring System and Technical Rules use during the competition.

The bout of the day

Ukraine’s Maksim Molodan achieved a silver medal at the 2021 EUBC U22 European Boxing Championships in Roseto degli Abruzzi after several years of international experiences. The 22-year-old Ukrainian moved up to the light middleweight (71kg) and he is one of the stars at the Moldavian Belt Tournament but he had a tough job in the fourth competition day. Moldova’s Davron Bozorov proved his development in this competition and he was highly competitive in this bout which took place between the two 2000 born boxers. Molodan increased his rhythm rounds by rounds and his efforts were enough to win the most difficult contest of the day.

The Round-Up

Hungary’s EUBC U22 European Boxing Championships silver medallist Luca Hamori won her first contest at the IBA Women’s World Boxing Championships in Istanbul and she proved that she could be her nation’s best female hope in the upcoming years. The 21-year-old Hungarian started slowly against Romania’s Madalina Ciuma in the final of the women’s welterweight (66kg). Hamori continued the second round in different rhythm and she landed more punches than her Romanian rival did. The Hungarian dominated the second part of the bout and celebrated her next international tournament title.

The Hungarian girls achieved two titles in the third day of boxing which was followed by Luca Hamori on Day4. Another U22 boxer, Regina Lakos at the middleweight (75kg), achieved their fourth female gold medal. The 22-year-old boxer has lack of international experiences yet but she was dominant in the first round against Romania’s Roberta Andrei. Lakos continued the second round in the same strong way and caught the local girl with tough combinations. The Romanian ringside abandoned their final bout in the beginning of the third round in Iasi.

Israel’s best youth boxer, Sofian El-Okby competed in the recent two editions of the EUBC Youth European Boxing Championships and he had enough international contests to win his next fight in Iasi. El-Okby moved up to the flyweight (51kg) since the continental event, but he has the speed and strength to control the bout against Moldova’s Vadim Popovici. The 18-year-old Israeli boxer increased his rhythm in the second round and the referee stopped their contest in the middle of the bout.

Romania’s Ionut Chiriac was too strong for his teammate, Ionut Bogdan Enache in the first bout of the youth featherweight (57kg) in Iasi. The referee confirmed Chiriac’s RSC triumph in the second round and the Romanian boxer won an important local fight on Day4. Another Romanian talent, Paul Tudor Tudoroiu showed his strength in the second bout in this youth weight category and defeated Hungary’s Kruzito Kovacs. Tudoroiu found the best fighting distance in time and his double combinations decided their contest.

Hungary’s EUBC European Junior Champion Levente Olah joined the youth age group this January and he has been trying to adopt the longer contests, the three-minute rounds. Olah had an unexpected loss at the EUBC Youth European Boxing Championships but the 17-year-old worked hard in the recent weeks to show his best form in Iasi and later in the IBA Youth World Boxing Championships. The lightweight (60kg) boxer dictated the tempo against Romania’s Florin Ionita and his tough body punches were decisive in the third round.
