Amit of India for the first time in the country’s history progressed into the finals of AIBA World Boxing Championships

First finalists are set at AIBA World Boxing Championships in Ekaterinburg, Russia. The crowd greets every finalist and supports boxers in the spectacular fights.

Flyweight finalists – Uzbekistan and India

Billal Bennama from France met with the Olympic champion Shakhobidin Zoirov (UZB). Bennama has already won against the Commonwealth Games champion Galal Yafai from England who defeated the top seeded defending champion Yosvany Veitia. This time he didn’t succeed though. Zoirov was stronger and proceeded into the final.

The other semi-final participants of the flyweight division were second seeded Indian Amit and Saken Bibossinov of Kazakhstan. Amit succeeded with the split decision 3:2 and became the first ever Indian World championships finalist. He meets with Zoirov to fight for the gold medal.

Light Welterweight medal winners are Cuba and the USA

Defending World champion Andy Cruz Gomez from Cuba swept the victory against Indian Manish Kaushik who claimed a bronze medal.

Third seeded European Games champion Hovhannes Bachkov from Armenia lost in a tough fight to Keyshawn Davis (USA). The winner who was the only American boxer who went to the semi-finals scored 4:1.

Middleweight medals go to Russia and Philippines

Russian Gleb Bakshi hold a bright victory against Brazilian Hebert Da Conceicao and progressed into the final after the previous success against Cuban.

The champion of Asia Tursynbay Kulakhmet (KAZ) had unexpected loss to Eumir Marcial (PHI). Philippinean won unanimously.

Top-2 heavyweight nations are Russia and Ecuador

Bulgarian Radoslav Pantaleev after he unanimously beat Cuban defending World champion Erislandi Savon met with Muslim Gadzhimagomedov (RUS). Russian European Games champion was a tough rival for the strong-hearted Bulgarian, and Pantaleev lost remaining bronze medalist.

Julio Cesar Castillo Torres made a sensation by defeating the Olympic silver medalist Vassily Levit (KAZ) scored 3:2. Gadzhimagomedov and Castillo Torres meets against each other for a gold medal fight.

Next four weight classes are scheduled in the evening session.
