The President of Serbia Mr. Aleksandar Vučić accepted a proposal of the AIBA President Mr. Umar Kremlev to become the chairman of the 2021 Belgrade AIBA World Boxing Championships local organizing committee. The meeting between the two leaders and heads of the Balkan boxing federations took place today in Belgrade.
‘I am happy to meet all of you, our brother countries representatives. Boxing is a very popular sport in Serbia and in the region, as well as a very important one. I was a president of a boxing club 20 years ago, I know the sports from the inside. Today I am very happy that Belgrade will host AIBA World Boxing Championships this year, and I accept the proposal to become the chairman of the organizing committee of the tournament,’ Mr. Vučić said.
The Boxing Center will be built in Serbia, claimed AIBA President.
‘It is a pleasure to see how boxing is developing in Serbia. I am sure that the World Championships will give a boost to the new victories for local athletes. I find it necessary to build a Boxing Center in Serbia to left a heritage after the major boxing tournament and give young athletes an opportunity to develop their skills,’ Mr. Kremlev stated.
