Twenty-eight nations and 378 boxers registered to compete at the EUBC Schoolboys & Schoolgirls European Boxing Championships in Erzurum

The 22nd Commonwealth Games has finished in Birmingham, England but another top event, the EUBC Schoolboys & Schoolgirls European Boxing Championships will be held as next in the international agenda. The new and upcoming edition of the EUBC Schoolboys & Schoolgirls European Boxing Championships will be held in Erzurum, Turkey starting from the second part of this week. 

Following the EUBC U22 European Boxing Championships, the EUBC Youth European Boxing Championships and the EUBC European Men’s Elite Boxing Championships, the next continental event will be held for the schoolboys and schoolgirls. The competition period of the EUBC Schoolboys & Schoolgirls European Boxing Championships is August 12-20. Following the rest day, the 29 finals will be held on August 20.  

The following 28 nations registered to attend at the EUBC Schoolboys & Schoolgirls European Boxing Championships: Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, England, Estonia, Georgia, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Scotland, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Turkey and Ukraine.

There are 378 boxers including 107 girls on the entry list of the EUBC Schoolboys & Schoolgirls Boxing Championships excluding the reserve boxers. The top boxing nations such as Armenia, Azerbaijan, England, Georgia, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Moldova, Poland, Romania, Turkey and Ukraine all will be there with huge delegations in Erzurum.

The first edition of the European Schoolboys Boxing Championships was held in 2003 and the schoolgirls joined them in 2018. Bosnia & Herzegovina’s capital city, Sarajevo was the host of the last edition in 2021 and after 20 years of break, a European boxing event returned to the country.

Russia claimed 19 out of the 29 gold medals in the capital city of Bosnia & Herzegovina where Ukraine ranked as No.2 in the medal table with seven titles. Promising Armenia bagged two gold medals in the schoolboy event, while the Czechs earned one title among the schoolgirls in Sarajevo. Altogether 19 nations achieved at least one medal in the 2021 EUBC Schoolboys & Schoolgirls European Boxing Championships.

The number of the boxers was 274 in the 2021 EUBC Schoolboys & Schoolgirls European Boxing Championships. The number of the participating nations was 25 in the competition: Albania, Armenia, Belarus, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, Georgia, Greece, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Kosovo, Latvia, Lithuania, Moldova, North Macedonia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey and Ukraine.
